Frequently Asked Questions
What port call statuses are available?
Our API provides four port call statuses: Arrivals (vessels that have arrived), Departures (vessels that have left), In Port (vessels currently at berth or anchor), and Expected (vessels with this port as destination in their AIS data).
How far back does historical port data go?
Our Port Calls by Port endpoint provides 30 days of historical data. This includes all arrivals, departures, and vessels that were in port during this period.
Can I filter port calls by vessel type?
Yes! You can filter port call results by vessel type (container, tanker, bulk carrier, etc.), tonnage ranges, and specific date ranges to focus on the traffic that matters to you.
How accurate are expected arrivals?
Expected arrivals are based on AIS destination data transmitted by vessels. Accuracy depends on vessels correctly updating their destination. We also provide ETA calculations based on vessel speed and distance.
Do you have a ready-to-use port analytics application?
Yes! Our Port Master application provides a full-featured interface for exploring port traffic data without any coding. Try it at port-master.datadocked.com.
What is the rate limit?
Port analytics endpoints (Port Calls by Vessel and Port Calls by Port) have a rate limit of 15 requests per minute.
